Road Trip...

Decided to hit the road and search out some area where I could see and find some trains (I am a very avid fan of railroading, and have been told that I should have worked for the railroads). Loaded up my assistant, (Baile) and went to Pennington, NJ as I found a site that several railfanning affectionados mapped out where there was good photo opportunities. Drove around sort of aimlessly looking for train tracks and found them in Pennington. Turns out it is the CSX line from West Trenton to points in PA (Allentown, Bethlehem, Harrisburg) for freight. Found the old Pennington train station which is on the National Historic Register) and now is a home consisting of several apartments (real cool). Took a few pictures and while waiting down by the tracks, without warning, a freight train came by doing normal rail speed of about 50 ! Scared the crap out of me ! Only could get the back end of the consist and also took a few track shots (can't wait until the trees start turning colors). Very beautiful area and will go back hunting around for more.....

Went across the river and wound up in Yardley...real nice quaint town, very typical of Pennsylvania which I love). Have to go back and walk around and explore....

Thanks for stopping by....have a great day !

Jersey Shore

Had some time tonight while heading home and stopped to try to get a few pictures before it is -20 degrees....took some photos along the ocean and Barnegat Bay in the Bay Head/Mantoloking area, learning that composition is the main thing....very pretty........very relaxing too.....

Interesting Night

Had a very interesting night, went to a photography workshop and also met a great person. I suggest all who are into photography to attend one of his workshops or photo tours. His name is David Simchock and he is a professional photographer and owner of Vagabond Vistas. His website is www.vagabondvistas.com and is a great site.

Planning to attend more workshops and a few photo tours....

New Adventure

Tonight, I went to and joined the Ocean County Camera Club. Meet in the library of the Lakewood High School, about 70 members, usually about 25-30 routinely show. Everyone was real nice, friendly and very helpful. Excited about going and getting involved. I hope to learn from alot of skilled photographers and they plan field trips, have mini-seminars, competitions and general good interaction. Meets every week and all are invited to attend, whether a member or not.

Road Trip.....

Decided to take a ride today to Lambertville/New Hope just to get out. Haven't been there in quite awhile and even though it was rain - on/off, I decided to load up Baile and hit the road.

Looked for interesting things to photo, didn't see much that interested me along the way, most likely due to the cloudy skies and dreary type day.....arrived at Lambertville and walked around a bit. Came across the steam locomotive still in station getting ready to head out, grabbed a few shots. Decided to get ahead of him to get a good shot along the railway....

Found a good crossing, with a bend.....setup for the shot (forgot my tripod....ha...typical newbie...LOL...keep your shirts on, it's coming back slowly...LOL). Was real nice seeing the locomotive coming around the bend puffing away. Took some shot...can't wait until my telephoto lens comes next week....got covered in coal cinders........I love it !  Gee, ya' think I like trains ?

Drove around some more, grabbed a few other photos, gotta unload them....

Just Chillin'

Well, Here we go.......

Well, this is "uncharted waters" for me also today.

Decided to start a blog to continue in my quest for digital photography and exposure in the digital world.

First of all, many, many thanks to my good friend and co-worker, Ed Harding, a phenomenal photographer who got me re-kindled into photography after many years of idle time (marriage, kids, etc.), we've all been there at times. Ed gave me great ideas and tips about cameras, lenses, digital darkrooms for a beginner like me....Ed, thanks again.

Please visit Ed's website at www.edwardhardingphotography.com and see his awesome work which is also available for purchase. Someday, if I am 1/10 th of his skill and knowledge, I will be ecstatic !

Digital Darkroom

Purchased (at the good recommendation) Adobe Photoshop Elements 7. Unbeliveable and I am only scratching (and I truly mean scratching) the surface of this software. An amazing powerful tool which I am most likely going to take a class on it to better understand it's capabilities.
