Into the Dawn

Attended probably the best house concert I have been at to date at THE YARD last night....
Two outstanding musicians, John Frinzi and Freebo each played solo and also teamed up for a duo performance before a great audience who also included Steve Huntington and JD Spradlin from Radio Margaritaville/XM Radio. Good food, good friends, good music and an occasional trip to the bonfire.....didn't get any better.

Thank you Troy.......

Attended the CD Release party yesterday for John Friday and his new album "Tropicalized". Was a great event enjoyed by all which afterward, many TBPHC and Naples Parrothead Club members went over to the Green Iguana in Tampa to "practice discussing the new CD". A great time was had by all....

To make the day, I was called by Troy Allan's mom, Jo Ann about 12 noon and informed that the raffle drawing for Troy's Goldwing bike was held at Margaritaville in New Orleans at Pardi-Gras and that I was the winner!  Over 900 tickets were sold and mine was pulled (by Troy, I'm sure). A truly remarkable individual, Troy may be gone but not forgotten and I promised to his mom that I will keep the bike for the rest of my life. Thank you Shelly, Christine and all my Parrothead friends for being you !

A Hard Act to Follow......

Was at the Hideaway Cafe on Friday night (best kept secret in St. Pete for music venues) to hear A.J. Swearingen (with outstanding vocals from Jayne Kelli) play many songs off his latest and upcoming CD....a 1st class musician (and standup guy) followed by the veteran Rob Tyre whose guitar playing is unbelievable ! He also brought up to the stage, Valerie Carter, an awesome vocalist. The house was packed and John, Nicole, Michelle and Scott in the kitchen did an awesome job of keeping the crowd happy. Very energetic night filled with great people and times........

As Life Goes On.......

As we roll into January of 2011, alot of things are happening here......warm weather heads the list (thank you, thank you), meeting with several musicians about upcoming photography for their CD's, spending mucho time at the Hideaway Cafe in St. Petersburg. This little cafe/recording studio/living room-type atmosphere is an awesome venue and best kept secret of St. Pete. Owned and operated by John and Nicole Kelly (also of the John Kelly Band (JKB), they bring the most awesome local talent and national indie acts to their stage. In additon to serving some great food, beer and wine, they offer local musicians a place to play and hopefully advance their careers.....check them out....http://www.hideawaycafe.biz./
